Creating an Actors Website
Why do I need an actors website? I’m on To Be Seen and Spotlight and also listed on my agents website!
Having a personal actors website is essential. It’s a fantastic promotional tool which you are in total control of. The casting director will probably google your name before booking you in for that job..
So where do I start?
Do consider using a company that specialises in creating actor websites. Look at their portfolio - do you like the actor websites they have created? Do they look modern and professional? Ask the web developer to create a website that you can manage. So if your contact details change or you get more credits you can amend these details.
I can’t afford a web developer! Any other suggestions?
Wordpress.com and wix.com can be simple and straight forward to use. But give yourself some time to understand how to get the website together. You could easily spend hours going through all the different functionality and templates to get it as you want.
What domain name should I choose?
Use a simple domain name. If you can something like www.firstname-surname.com is ideal.
What layout should I use? What information do I need to put on my website?
Keep the format simple and easy for the user to navigate.
Aim for approx 7 pages:
Bio - short summary of you (age, location, types of work you have done)
Experience and credits - list all your credits with most recent ones first
Headshots - no more than 5 professional headshots
Showreel - upload it or add YouTube link
Actor websites - include a link to your To Be Seen profile
Social media - links to your Facebook page and Twitter profile
Contact - your email address or agents
